Hertha BSC, as a traditional club in the 2. Bundesliga, stands to benefit from the recent agreement between the German Football League (DFL) and sportswear manufacturer Adidas. The DFL has secured long-awaited capital of €100 million to further develop the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga. This financial injection is intended to enable a positive future for German professional football, including Hertha BSC.

The agreement, unanimously approved by the DFL executive committee and confirmed on April 28, stipulates that Adidas will provide a €100 million loan. DFL President Hans-Joachim Watzke emphasized the significance of this partnership as an “exemplary signal extending beyond football” and an “important option for investing in the growth of the Bundesliga.”

A central component of the deal is the early extension of the official match ball partnership. Originally planned from 2026 to 2030, this has now been extended by four more years until 2034. This means that Hertha BSC and all other clubs in the first and second divisions will play with an official Adidas match ball for eight years starting next season.

The impact of this partnership extends beyond regular league matches. The ball with the famous three-stripe logo will also be used in the relegation play-offs between the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, in which Hertha BSC has participated in the past, as well as in the newly established U-21 competition.

This long-term collaboration with Adidas underscores the DFL's commitment to strengthening the infrastructure and attractiveness of German professional football. For clubs like Hertha BSC, this means not only financial stability at the league level but also continued brand presence and professionalization through a global partner.

Adidas's investment is seen as a crucial step to ensure competitiveness and promote future projects in German football. Hertha BSC and its fans can look forward to a strengthened league that can continue to grow and develop through such strategic partnerships.
